Hi...We'd like to thank you for visiting our little shop and tell you a little more about ourselves.  We are the family behind Mountain Creative. 

 

The beginning of our Mountain Creative story started as a napkin dream many, many years ago.  We knew we wanted to have a little shop where families could come enjoy time together, be creative, and make memories.  We wanted to enhance the arts in our community and be able to give back, as our little city of Fairmont has so richly given to us.   We came across this lovely building in 2007.  It needed new life breathed into it and we started that 4 year process.  After lots of blood, sweat, and even a few tears, we opened our doors July 13, 2013.  Since our very first day, we have watched our painters' families grow (including our own), celebrated milestones with our painters, and watched art blossom just as we had dreamed.

Miles holds a bachelors degree in sculpture and masters degrees in art education and teaching from Fairmont State University.  When he's not making his own pots, he enjoys traveling to schools to present art projects, teaching clay lessons, and interacting with our painters.  Miles is a juried Tamarack artist.  Purchase Miles' pots here.

Jessie has been in education since 2007.  She graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelors degree in English and a masters degree in secondary education and Marshall University with a certification in Education Administration.  Her favorite thing about being at Mountain Creative is seeing people take a minute out of the hustle of life to slow down and enjoy creating.  

 

And then there are our shop kids, Boone and Birch and our pup, Captain Dinosaur.
